On Sunday, March 2, following 11:00 worship, the Jarvis community gathered to dedicate our new exterior handicapped ramp built by the Shepherd's Helpers and many willing volunteers.  The ramp is an outstanding, concrete example of the wonderful ministry of one our church's volunteer service organizations.  The Shepherd's Helpers, led by Mr. Larry Hagler, is engaged in projects throughout the year to provide needed minor home repairs, handicapped ramps, clean-up services, and other services to those in need, both in our church family and in the community at large.

Throughout the month of January, almost two dozen volunteers, mostly from the church membership worked to build a beautiful exterior handicapped ramp leading from the playground/parking lot area to main floor entrance near the Church Archives.  In addition to Larry's leadership, skilled direction was provided by Jim Kelly.

A second interior ramp has been installed just outside the church library on the main floor.  The installation of these ramps is a major step toward making the entire main floor of the Education Building handicapped accessible.  Other projects under consideration to complete this vision will include widening of some doors and installation of remote controlled door openers, a wheelchair lift installed on the stairs adjacent to the Hall of History, and modifications to main floor bathrooms.

Be sure to take time to look over the Shepherd's Helper's work.  It is beautifully and professionally designed and meticulously crafted.  The thousands of dollars saved because of the many hours volunteered by these skilled servants of Christ's church will bless our church's ministries in many ways.
