Our new Director of Christian Education for Adults, Timm Hackett, joins the Jarvis Staff on July 1.

Timm Hackett became our Director of Adult Christian Education in July of 2007. His job entails coordinating curriculum for various classes and studies, matching new members with existing study groups, and developing new studies and groups at Jarvis. Previously, Timm served as the Director of Youth Ministries at Pine Valley UMC in Wilmington, Covenant UMC in Greenville, St. James UMC in Tarboro, and Salem UMC in Simpson. For two years, the NC Conference appointed Timm as a student pastor to the Bethlehem/Shady Grove charge in Warren County.
In addition to his ministry at Jarvis, Timm teaches English at East Carolina University. He serves as one of the chairs of the Academic Integrity Board for the university. He is also a member of the ECU Christian Faculty Network. He is a former sports writer and columnist for The New Bern Sun Journal, The Washington Daily News, and Minority Golf Magazine. His works include profiles on Senior PGA Professionals Walter Morgan and Lee Trevino. He wrote and produced the 1991 radio drama "Wake up America: A Tribute to Martin Luther King." He has written two screenplays: Once upon the Time and New Bern. Currently, he is working on a novel entitled 9 Innings.
Timm is married to Jacqueline Elise Hackett, and the father of Morgan Elise Hackett (age 7) and Anna Marie Hackett (age 5).
