As faithful followers of Jesus Christ, we gather to worship and learn, and we go forth to witness and serve.

The purpose and mission of Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church is to glorify God by being faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, sharing His love and teachings wherever possible.  We recognize WORSHIP as central to our Christian life and fellowship.  We recognize the common need of individuals of all ages and marital status to experience and express Christian discipleship.  We shall endeavor to provide such opportunities in the following ways:

• We wish to provide CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP that is warm and inclusive, encouraging settings in which the varied gifts of the members can be called forth and expressed.  We regard prayer as a vital key in discerning the Lord's will, and the ministry of intercessory prayer as a sacred trust.
• We want to develop spiritual GROWTH IN DISCIPLESHIP among all our members by providing experiences which will nurture spiritual growth.  We want to encourage a strong and growing Sunday School and programs and activities for all ages, with a strong emphasis on studies and worship.
• We want to REACH OUT to other persons with the Good News of Jesus Christ.  We regard "the whole world as our parish", remembering Jesus' command: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."  We shall "offer them Christ", as John Wesley so often urged, by means of local and foreign missions, evangelism, and Christian love and sharing.
